Set on the Strip in the upscale Mandalay Bay Hotel Las Vegas, Michael Mina’s Stripsteak is home to celebrity executive chef Michael Mina. It elevates the ever-popular American steakhouse cuisine to new heights with innovations such as fries cooked in duck fat and goat cheese added to scalloped potatoes. Certified American Aberdeen-Angus beef is used as well as cuts from the top-of-the-range Japanese Kobe herds.
With its upmarket, trendy atmosphere and ambience, smart dress code, and full bar, Michael Mina’s Stripsteak is not a family dining haunt, but it is perfect for business dinners, small adult groups, dining a deux, and romantic special occasions. Any menu featuring the luxury Kobe beef is bound to be priced at top of the range, but diners here certainly get what they paid for.
The wine list is exceptional, including well-known vintages from across the world, and the mark-up on the expensive bottles is low, unlike in many comparable Vegas see-and-be-seen restaurants. Service is normally attentive and comes in the old-fashioned style where waiters explain the dishes you’ve ordered in graphic detail.
